Would someone plese give me the name(s)and phone numbers of a library in the Dayton area that has obituaries. I am looking from the early 1900's thorugh about 1950. Perhaps some these may be at the historical society? I am not familiar with Montgomery co., as most of my research is in eastern and southern Ohio. Any help would be appreciated. I have been researching the Michael family for more years than I care to admit. Many, many people have contributed information to this line and it became too large of a project to publish. I have just placed my many years of research on a website for those who are interested. I do not take credit for the research. John Donaldson was known in the early Twentieth Century as the "Greatest Colored Pitcher In The World." We have been tracking his playing career for several years and more information is available at: www.johndonaldson.bravehost.com We are looking for a very specific instance when Donaldson played in Montgomery county. We have a reference that mentions Donaldson playing in Dayton, Ohio. On August 9, 1920, while playing with the Kansas City Monarchs against the Dayton Marcos. We need to check local papers for accounts of this game. We would like to check the local Dayton newspaper, or another Montgomery county newspaper. Donaldson traveled throughout the Midwest during his near 40 year baseball playing career. Some say he would have been the best pitcher in the Major Leagues in his prime of 1910 to 1917. Any help you could give would be greatly appreciated. If you are interested in the Donaldson effort, we can send you some background on Donaldson's many exploits in other parts of Ohio and the Midwest. List, To further bolster Jo's argument that George Kester(Kiester) was married to Elizabeth Hetzler I offer the following. In 1830, and living in German township where the Kesters lived, was Samuel, Andrew, George, George Jr., Abraham and Peter "Hetsler". I did not look at that portion of the tax records that denote exactly where they lived or owned land as I am already past that portion of the taxes. However, they are listed in the personal property list with how many horses and beef cattle they each owned. Whiule on vacation recently in the Dayton area I availed myself of the excellent resources available at the Reibold building. After scanning many of the Brethren estates for the southern portion of the county I was able to scan the entirety of the 1830 tax duplicates for the county. Wayne Webb

Unfortunately, Virgil M. Kester, III, who is, as far as I can see, has no relationship to this KESTER family of Montgomery Co/Darke Co, has copied information from two separate KESTER families and combined them as one family. Elizabeth Hetzler was not married to George KESTER (Dec 14, 1777-May 10, 1838). Elizabeth Hetzler was married May 25, 1815 to George KEISTER (Jan 31, 1792-Nov 17, 1843). Elizabeth Hetzler died July 18, 1865 Sunbury, German Twp, Montgomery, OH. George KESTER is an uncle of George KEISTER. George KEISTER is a son of Peter KEISTER & Magdalena ? of Montgomery Co, OH. George KESTER is a brother of Peter KEISTER. George and Elizabeth (?) KESTER are buried in the Palestine Cem in Darke Co, OH George and Elizabeth (HETZLER) KEISTER are buried in the Sunbury Cem in Montgomery Co, OH I have photographs of their tombstones. So, folks, don't take for granted everything you see on Ancestry.! It might be the figment of someone's imagination! I have tried contacting Virgil Kester, III to inform him of the mistakes in his Ancestry posting but he has never responded to me. I also put the correct information the KESTER Rootsweb List.
