He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Kettering. Ralph was an architect in the Dayton area for many years with Lorenz & Williams and independently. He is survived by his wife, Cleo Jean (McNutt) Jones; daughters Sally Keener and Melinda (Christopher) Little; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Ralph was preceded in death by grandson, Jacob Keener and son-in-law, Daniel Keener. A private burial was held Friday, Feb. 1, at Hillgrove Cemetery with a public memorial service held at Christ United Methodist Church, Kettering. Until 2002 she had been continuously active with the Otterbein Retirement Home community having provided over 5000 hours of Christian service to residents over a 27 year period. She has been a resident of Kettering for the last 43 years. She worked for many years in the broadcasting industry, becoming the first woman radio station manager in Ohio. She retired from broadcasting in the early 1960's to raise her two children. Her next commercial endeavor was founding Advertising and Talent Associates, Inc. which operated successfully for over 40 years. She was inducted into the Dayton Area Broadcasters Hall of Fame in September 2005. In addition Virginia was an accomplished musician and spent over ten years as a Church Organist at St. Charles Borromeo Church of Kettering. She was preceded in death by her parents William and Luella and her brother Paul. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, James W. Bengel; her son Jeffrey Bengel; daughter Julie (Calvin) Neeley, and five grandchildren. The family will receive friends Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 6-8 p.m. at the Tobias Funeral Home - Far Hills Chapel, 5471 Far Hills Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 4500 Ackerman Blvd, Kettering. He is survived by four sons, Edward (Susie) Fowler, Harry (Betty) Fowler, Keith (Wendy) Fowler, and Larry and Lisa Fowler; 14 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 25 at the George C. Martin Funeral Home, North Dayton Chapel. Interment was held Saturday at the Willow View Cemetery.
