Prior to the Civil War, they had slaves whom they had set free long before 1861. My mother's grandparents were Charles Henry Bonar, b. 1829, and Elizabeth A. Bonar, b. 1833. I remember them living in a large square house in southwest Hopkins where my mother grew up. They, along with 16 other people with the name Bonar, are buried in the Hopkins Cemetery, in addition to many others who were Bonars before marrying. There are no people named Boner burried there. The only one of the Bonars I know who had a first name similar to those you are seeking was Charles Delbert Bonar, b. 1880, m. Chattie Crownover, and they had no children who survived to adulthood.

Jennie married Winfield Scott WOODS on the 24th of Nov 1904 in Coburg, IA, and died 17 Oct 1969, buried in Nodaway, Missouri. Cousin "Hattie" signed in the album is probably Harriet Agnes BABB b. 29 Mar 1874 in IA to parents Benjamin Franklin BABB and Caroline Rachel WEILENMAN. Harriet married George Cass CLARK in Red Oak, IA on the 25th of March 1897, and died 9 Apr 1933 at Griswold, IA. Cousin Myrtle DAVIS appears to be the daughter of Robert H. & Mary A. DAVIS who along with 3 children were living in Coburg during the 1880 census. Robert H. age 29, born in OH to a Mother born in PA, his wife Mary A. age 28, born in IA to parents born in IL and NJ respectively. Their children were, Amos E. age 8, Myrtle R. age 4, and Lewis A. age 10 months. All of the children were born in IA. Goldie Ethel BURRIS b. 14 Jan 1882 in Coburg, IA was the daughter of Arthur Miller BURRIS and Samantha Elizabeth ADDISON. Goldie married on the 2nd of June 1909 and died 14 July 1954. The same BURRIS Family including Orville BURRIS also signed in the book were recorded in the 1880 census living in Coburg including, Arthur M. age 37, born in Indiana to parents born in NC and OH respectively, his wife Samantha E. age 33, also born in IN to IN born parents. The family included 4 children, Melina E. age 10, Nora M. age 5, Mattie age 3, and Orville age 1, and a nephew, Fred BURRIS age 10. I'm hoping to locate someone from this family so that the album can be returned to its rightful place with family. If you are a member of this family, or know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley
