ARTHUR This Arthur family were back and forth from MO to IA. They went to Kansas in the late 1800s and then later settled in Arkansas. I am trying to find where thier daughter Anna M. was born. I know she wasn;t born in Kansas, and I've tried Iowa and can't find anything, so it is possible she was born here. They may have been living with or near my gg grandfather, MARTIN ARTHUR. If there are any records; census, directories, etc. that could be looked at, I would really appreciate your help. I have all the info except that of ANNA M. ARTHUR. She was still alive in 1939. She was the informant on her father, James Nathaniel's death certificate. She signed it, ANNA M. MILLER, Kansas City, MO. I can't send for a death certificate. Posted on: Nodaway Co Biographies Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/NodawayBios/10035 Surname: Tillman ------------------------- For your information, a 1987 issue of "The Genealogical Helper" magazine mentions a special softcover publication, "Nodaway Co., Missouri 1890 Special Census: Surviving Soldiers, Sailors, and Marines and Widows, Etc." prepared by Carolyn Tillman and available at that time from the Nodaway Co. Genealogical Society, Maryville, MO. Recognizing the importance of the 1890 special census to those whose ancestors served in the Civil War, the Nodaway County Genealogical Society had published this typescript copy of the federal enumeration of survivors or their widows in the county, taken in 1890. Information included house and family numbers, full names, rank, company, regiment, dates of enlistment and discharge, post office address, and disability incurred (if any). Some entries also included other comments on the soldier or his service and an every-name index had been added. Perhaps you can locate a copy of this booklet. I didn't see it mentioned at this website and I don't know if the information in now on the Internet, but it sounded like it could help fill in some gaps created by the accidental destruction of the 1890 USA Federal Censuses.
