CHARLES P. SHROYER farmer and stock raiser, section 33, post office Hopkins, was born in Mercer County, Illinois, on the 11th day of July, 1844, being the son of John and Mary (Meadows) Shroyer. His father, who was an agriculturist, was a native of Dayton, Ohio, and his mother was born in Indiana. Charles passed his youth on a farm in Mercer County, Illinois, obtaining an education in the common schools of the neighborhood. In January, 1874, he became a resident of Missouri, locating in Nodaway County, where he now owns 260 acres of land, upon which is an excellent barn and a neat, comfortable house. A wind pump supplied the place with water. He is quite largely interested in stock raising, and has graded stock and some thoroughbred sheep. Mr. Shroyer has held the positions of school director and road overseer. He was married March 16, 1866, to Miss L. B. West, a daughter of H. R. West, a native of Kentucky. They have six children: Clara A., born February 8, 1867; Joseph R., born May 7, 1868; Effie, born August 4, 1870; Charles W., born December 18, 1871; Laura, born August 21, 1876, and Sarah A. born February 14, 1878. Posted on: Nodaway Co Query Forum Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Mo/Nodaway/10994 Surname: FOSTER, WERRELL, CHARLTON, TEAGUE ------------------------- Maggie, I responded to your query by e-mail, but thought I would reach more contacts by responding on the Nodaway Co. Query Forum. My great-grandmother was Ann(a) FOSTER, born 5 Sept. 1836 in IN; died 4 August 1899 in Wanette, Pottawatomie Co., OK. The information I have is in bits and pieces, but I do know she was married (1) to John WERRELL in MO and they had two sons, Asher, born 1858 in IN and William "Bill," born 1860 in MO. After John's death during the Civil War, she married (2) William Hamilton CHARLTON on 8 January 1867 in Marysville, Nodaway Co., MO. They were living in Nodaway, Adams Co., IA when their first son (my maternal grandfather), Charles Allen was born on 11 September 1868. They had another son, Albert "Nick" born 1871 in MO and a daughter, Anna Maybelle, born 1874 in MO (who was married to Quilla TEAGUE). In 1870, the family was living in Atchison, Nodaway Co., MO. By 1880, they were living in White River Township, Barry Co., MO. By the early-mid 1890's, they were living in the Chickasaw Lands Territory (present counties of Pottawatomie or McClain) where William and son, Charles Allen purchased or staked land on the Canadian River. In 1894, Charles Allen married Ethel Jane PORTLOCK, my maternal grandparents and parents of my mother, Anna Mae. I know very little about the FOSTER family and would appreciate any information re Ann(a)'s parents and siblings. I will be more than happy to share what I have on the families. I also saw mentioned the name of WALKER. Incidentally, before the marriage to Ann(a) FOSTER WERRELL, William Hamilton CHARLTON was married (1) to Pulssarah (Sarah) WALKER in Unionville, Putnam Co., MO. Sarah died shortly after the birth of their son Miles B. who was born 2 January 1860 (in and around Sidney, Fremont Co., IA.

The Framptons lived around Sweethome, Parnell and Ravenwood, mostly in Jackson Township. Individuals that I research, and that may be related to your relatives or ancestors are: Simon P. SMITH, died before 1920 in Nodaway County (I know very little about him), his wife Nancy LITER (same for her). Andrew WILCOX died in/near Ravenwood in Nodaway. I am also looking for information about him. His daughter Rosa Jane married Alpha Roy FRAMPTON, my wife's grandfather. I believe Andrew also had a son named D. W, Wilcox, who moved to Idaho. There were many FRAMPTON families in Nodaway at one time, I have a lot on them, in case any one needs it. Thanx, Bill and Sandy (Frampton) Baker
