The 1891 census shows John Hiscot (b. Newbridge) living as a nephew with William and Elizabeth STOTT (sic) and their extended family at Foresters Row, Mynyddyslwyn. Ten years later he is listed as adopted son with the same family at 28 Railway Terrace, Abercarn.
