    1. [MON] Wills and Probate - help wanted
    2. The Lewis family
    3. G'day everyone I have been keeping a very low profile over the last year or so although I still read the postings with interest. As is so often the case in genealogy I need help to solve a problem. Quite by chance I came across a reference to Sarah Ann Lewis which could be my great grandmother. Let me make it clearer. I lost sight of her after the 1901 Census. She is one of the numerous Lewis family from Pontypool who bore a son, my grandfather. He was brought up as her brother as she was only 17 when he was born and there were numerous siblings younger than her. A family story has her marrying a wealthy, ex-military officer whose name has never been mentioned. She was born about 1860 and the reference has a Sarah Ann Lewis, spinster, late of Plasmont, Monmouthshire, who died on 21 October 1936. Her will was executed and a notice in the London Gazette gives a date of 1 April 1937 for full probate. Is there a way in which I can obtain a copy of her will? What I want to know is, first is it my long-lost grandmother and second, if it is her, where had she been all those years since 1916 when her son died, leaving a widow and two sons? I know from my late father that they had a difficult childhood and if family stories are correct she was a well off woman. Can anyone help? Regards

    3. Hi The article in the Gazette gives the date of probate as 1st January 1937 not April. You'll need the correct date when ordering the will Steve -----Original Message----- From: monmouthshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:monmouthshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of The Lewis family Sent: 01 October 2012 05:42 To: monmouthshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [MON] Wills and Probate - help wanted G'day everyone I have been keeping a very low profile over the last year or so although I still read the postings with interest.
