On the other hand there was possibly no obvious way for Chris to know whether or not the abbreviation was a more general term used in census records all over the UK Robert -----Original Message----- From: monmouthshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:monmouthshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Jon It means Mile End Old Town. Hi Robert, It wasn’t a census query, it was a baptism record query, and, sorry to say but as it was known to be a London baptism, it should have been directed to an appropriate list. As List Admin I think that any genealogical query is ok on this list. I have learnt something from the query and the answer. Let's not be too rigid about territory, we are all after the same thing aren't we? Dead rellies I mean, and it is the season of goodwill so Thanks to Jon for the answer and to Chris for the question. Shall we move on?
