Here is a MAYO family group, living in Bradford, Yorkshire. I hope it will be useful to some of you MAYO researchers out there. Alexander MAYO, son of John MAYO and Elizabeth WINZAR was born in Broadwey, Dorset, about 1856; bp. there on February 10th., 1856. Alexander 14, was a blacksmith, living with his parents in Broadwey, for the 1871 census. In Q3 of 1880, in Wigan district, Alexander MAYO married Alice ARSTALL. At the 1881 and the 1891 censuses, Alexander was a Police Constable in Bradford, Yorkshire. Alexander 44 died in Bradford in Q3 of 1900; Alice 64 died there in Q1 of 1921. Alexander and Alice had issue: 1. John Henry MAYO, born about Q2 of 1888 in Bradford, Yorks. John H. 25 died there in Q2 of 1913. 2. Herbert MAYO, born about Q3 of 1890 in Bradford, Yorks. In Q2 of 1915, in Bradford district, Herbert married Hetty SCOTT. Herbert and Hetty had issue. 3. Rose Elizabeth MAYO, born about Q2 of 1895 in Bradford. In Q3 of 1915, in Bradford, West Yorks Riding, England, Rose married Walter GLEDHILL. [NOTE: Several other Mayo births and deaths were also registered on FreeBMD, in the 1890s, in Bradford district, Yorks. Some or all probably belong to this family.] This family had ancestors in Frome St. Quintin, Dorset, back in the 1600s and 1700s.
