This thread has just reminded me of the (Anglican) parish weekend we spent many years ago at the (Methodist) holiday home in St Ives. Like Joss' experience there was a mix of religion and healthy outdoor pursuits but it did raise eyebrows when we expressed a desire to go to the pub!
