Hi, I am looking for information on Alfred John Green. I have a photo of him that was taken at 23 Commercial Newport Monmouthshire. Written on the back of the photo is: “Lynton” St Alban’s Rd Terherbert Monmouthshire Wales – Jan 1904. Is there a way of confirming his address? I would like to know whom his parents were, where they are buried and if he had any siblings. I do not have any information on his family. (Census: 1911 info: lived in Abergavenny (Parish: Blaenavon) Monmouthshire Wales (Spouse: Ethel Barley Green)) He married Ethel Bailey Dakers (sometimes spelled Dacre) about April 1905 in Newport Monmouthshire Wales. They had two children: Norah Green born about 28 Dec 1907 and John Dakers Green about 1909. Her parents John Dakers (whom I believe is the one who was a County Magistrate for Bedwellty Petty Sessional Division in 1901 and lived at 40 Ombersley Road Newport) and Margaret Hannah – I do not know her maiden name. Both died in 1908 in Newport Monmouthshire. I would like to know where they are buried and Margaret’s maiden name. Did either of them have any siblings? It looks like Ethel and her siblings were born in Durham England before moving to Bedwellty, Aberystruth Monmouthshire Wales (Ecclesiastical Parish: Holy Trinity St. Peter & St. John) according to the 1891 census. It looks like Ethel Bailey Dakers’ siblings were: • Bertha M Dakers baptized Mar 1876 • John Edward Sydney Dakers 1877 (Possible twin girls: Kathleen & Marjorie Dakers who died Jun 1908 in Bedwellty, before their first birthday (same month as their grandmother Margaret Hannah) • Herbert Hugh Dakers baptized 5 Jul 1878 • Norah Clarissa Dakers baptized 14 Apr 1880 • Marian Hilda Dakers 1883 Ethel Bailey Dakers was a concert pianist. Is there any way I can find out where she played? She used to play with an orchestra. Ethel Bailey Dakers and Alfred John Green left Monmouthshire somewhere between 1911 and 1914, where my grandfather Geoffrey Green was born in Ermelo, Mpumalanga South Africa. Ethel had a sister Bertha Dakers who visited them in South Africa but I do not believe she lived there and I cannot find any record of where she died or that she was ever married. I found him in the 1881 Census with parents & 2 siblings, also his birth reg in 1875 and marriage in 1905, which should give you details about his father. The 1881 Census living at 88 Ty Celwyn James Thomas Green 35 Mining engineer Sarah Green 35 Wife percival J G Green 7 Scholar Alfred J Green 6 Scholar Ada L Green 4 months Margaret J Jeffries General servant Patience Roberts Nursemaid So his father was quite well off.
