    3. I just discovered that Absalom GRINDLE who was killed in WWI is in my family tree. How would I go about getting a copy of his death announcement from the local paper in Abertilly? Thank you. Bill

    3. G'day Bill You would need to know which newspapers were current at the time. Try visiting the British Library's newspaper website http://www.bl.uk/catalogues/newspapers/welcome.asp It has a search facility and should tell you what newspapers were available at the time in Abertillery. When you have the newspaper names you might then contact the Cwmbran Records Office to find if they have microfilm or hard copy of the relevant newspapers. From there you may have to ask for help from the members of the list or a relative who lives in the area. However, there might not be an obituary with lots of information, just a barebones announcement of his death giving regimental details and place and date of death. Hope this helps Ray Lewis Hazelmere Western Australia Surname Interests in Monmouthshire: Jones; Lewis; Prosser http://www.LostCousins.com/?ref=LC894461 -----Original Message----- From: monmouthshire-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:monmouthshire-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Bill White Sent: Wednesday, 28 February 2007 9:54 AM To: monmouthshire@rootsweb.com Subject: [MON] WWI veteran obituary I just discovered that Absalom GRINDLE who was killed in WWI is in my family tree.
