Hello Bob, Have you obtained the marriage certificate for them which would at least give you the name of both fathers, and also obtaining his birth certificate which would also give you his mothers maiden name, and knowing this for William senior would give you a better scope of finding him before 1871. In 1861 he more than likely was still unmarried and possibly living with parents. Regards Barbara
