    3. Hi Lewis, One lister suggested the name in 1861 was Ellior which would make perfect sense to me. As Job was from Wiltshire and likely wasn't able to write, Hellier in a west country accent would sound like Ellior, or Ellier. Tracking his wife Margaret back through the 1851 and 1841 censuses and tying up with freebmd info all ads up: Margaret Phillpott, (dau of William and charlotte Phillpott) married John Forward Abergavenny 1846. Son Samuel with mum and grandparents in 1851. Margaret Forward married Job Hillier Abergavenny 1853. Job and Margaret appear in 1861 as Ellios or Ellior with 3 children Elizabeth, Mary Ann and Thomas. Margaret Hellier married Charles Escott Abergavenny 1869. Jane Escott born Abergavenny 1870. 1871 census, Margaret appears with the surname Day, so does her daughter Jane, but the children from her previous marriage were still named Hellier. 1881 much the same. 1891 Margaret is with daughter and son in law Isaac and Maria Jenkins, and Margaret's surname is once again Escott. Many thanks for your help and interest and to everyone else who replied over this query. Kind regards, JOn
