Hello list, I am having difficulty in locating my David Thomas, born in Pontypool c.1842, son of Richard Thomas, cordwainer. By the time that David Thomas married in 1868 Richard Thomas was deceased. I was not able to locate the family in 1851 although I did spend a neck aching few hours looking in the Gwent Record Office some years ago. I know that David Thomas eventually went to Merthyr Tydfil, but could not find any trace of his father on any census there. Perhaps I did not look hard enough. If anyone can help with the family in 1851 I would be grateful. Thank you, Maureen Rhondda
