    3. Wales has never been one unified country in the past. A collection of warlike tribes. No one Prince had power over all Wales. A pilgrimage to St David's was viewed with the same risk as one to the holy lands, the tribes were so warlike. King Edward one of the greatest Kings of England, the hammer of the Scots even he found it difficult to bring the Welsh to heel.
