    3. Dear Listers, One of my favourite websites has always been www.old-maps.co.uk/ which provided free images of superb large-scale (1:10,560) nineteenth century Ordnance Survey maps of the UK. I visited the website yesterday and was shocked to find that the home page had received a "makeover" and that the search facility and gazetteer were not functioning. I reported the fault to Old-Maps and this morning I received the following explanation: ------------- Good Morning Thank you for contacting www.old-maps.co.uk We are experiencing a few problems at the moment but aim to resume full working order as soon as we can. Apologies for the inconvenience this may of caused. Kind regards The Old-Map Team --------------- This morning, the search facility seems to be working (it, too, has suffered a makeover!) but the essential zoom facility doesn't work, so one cannot access the full-sized map images. I assume these problems are of a temporary nature, resulting from the changes in the design of the webpages. Perhaps it is premature for me to criticise, but my first impression is that while the new design *looks* very nice, it does not perform as well as the old one. Have a look for yourself and see what you think.
