Hello, I'm new to the Monmouthshire list and completely new to genealogy in Wales. One of these days I'll be trying to pull together all the BRAZELLs in Wales, but right now I'm just trying to work out the nature of my grandmother Ivy FRANKLIN's connections to Newport. I have photos of Ivy with family or friends in Barry and possibly Newport in the 1920s. She she moved from Chinnor, Oxfordshire to Newport with husband Charles and son Colin (my father) sometime in the early 1930s and they lived there until they moved to Yeovil, Somerset, in 1939. I've posted some of the photos at http://www.brazellnuts.com/family/photos_ivy_newport.html. The two previous pages have photos that may also have been taken in Newport; the two photographs that were taken on the beach at Barry are at http://www.brazellnuts.com/family/photos_ivy_seaside.html. I know it's a bit of a long shot, but any feedback would be much appreciated. Thanks and regards, Paul Brazell Berlin, Germany

I have cousins (probably) in the U.S. who say we're all descended from 5th century Irish kings and/or Northern French Vikings, probably with the help of DNA. But that doesn't help me with my mainline Bucks BRAZELLs, who were probably French Huguenot dyers long after their ancestors were irish blacksmiths. But I do love a good argument. Must be in my blood :) Paul B.
