    3. Hello to all- I have a general question as it has happened twice in two different Catholic Churches between the years 1852 & 1859. Mary SCANNELL appears as a witness to a marriage at either St Illtyd's or St Mary's (I can't remember which), in 1855. That is the maiden name of my ancestor Mary (nee SCANNELL) BUCKLEY who was married in 1852 until her death in 1884. I know there were other SCANNELL in the Merthyr area and Mary is a common name so I didn't think much of it. Now, there is another marriage in Tredegar where the witness is a Mary SCANNELL in 1859. The wedding party had moved to Tredegar from Merthyr Tydfil. Is this a coincidence or a custom? Could all 3 actually be the same person? One more piece. My BUCKLEY son of the ancestor listed above, married a girl who was born in Tredegar and whose family moved along with couple #2 above to the same neighborhood in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Obviously this one has me guessing. Would anyone like to either dowse my fire of curiosity or add some kerosene? Thanks John
