    3. I also have Roch/Roach family in Monmouthshire who eminated from Pembrokeshire. My great grandfather Henry Roch was master of Abercarn Works School in the 1860s. He was born at Sheerness, the son of Michael & Jane Roch/Roach. Michael was a shipwright in the RN dockyard, Pembroke Dock, but transferred temporarily to Sheerness in 1836/7 which is why Henry was born there. Henry trained as a teacher at Borough Rd., London and then after teaching in Pembroke Dock, Neath and Frampton Cotterel (where my grandma was born), he got the job at Abercarn. He died there of phthisis aged 36. His children continued to live in the Abercarn area and there are descendants in that area still, though my grandma married and lived in Cardiff most of her life. Any connections would be of interest. 3. A Henry Roch/Roach/Roche married my great-grandaunt Ellen/Helen Birch in 1863 Haverfordwest. This Henry was b. 1843 Llangwm, the son of a coal miner Henry Roach b. 1811 Freystrop, and Sarah b. 1813 Llangwm, Pem. In 1851 they were living in Llangwm. In 1861 Henry jr was a grocer's apprentice in H'west St. Mary.. spelling Roch. In 1871 he was married with 5 children, a retailer of wine and spirits in H'west...spelled Roach. In 1872 the family had emigrated to Bedminster, Somerset England, and from then on the spelling of the name is Roche. They had at least 8 more children born in England, and Henry's occupation is Commercial traveler, then in 1901 he is a "Hop & seed traveler". I don't think my family has had any contact with this branch since the early 1900s.
