    3. Western Mail Monday May 17th 1926.   (Strike Edition). FIFTY YEARS AGO- Western Mail, May 17, 1876. The funeral of the late Sir Hugh WILLIAMS took place on Saturday afternoon at Bodelwyddan Church, which was erected by his sister the Dowager Lady WILLOUGHBY de BROKE, as a memorial to her husband. The ceremony was very unostentatious, the hearse, in accordance with the request of the late baronet, being drawn by his charger, which was shot after the funeral. The chief mourners were his son, Sir William Greville WILLIAMS Bart., and his three brothers. Sir Watkin Williams WYNN, M.P., his brother-in-law, Capt. VERNEY, Mr. MAINWARING, Mr. PEEL, Mr. FITZHUGH, Mr. Spencer LUCY, Mr. Berkeley LUCY, Capt.WYNN, and Mr. Owen Glaney WYNN. PHOTOGRAPH Page. Wedding photo Mr. Clifford GRANTLEIGH, Wood, London, and Miss Ivy Clare EVANS, Cardiff. Married at St. Germans Church, Cardiff. OBITUARIES. The death is announced of Mr. Reginald Aubrey GIBBS, diocesan lay reader, New Malden, Surrey, late of Cardiff, at the age of 58. Mr. Edward LEWIS, of the Rose and Crown, Nottage, the oldest licensed victualler in the district has passed away at the age of 78 years. He leaves a widow, a married son and married daughter. There was a large attendance at the funeral of Mr. D.R. POWELL, of Porthcawl on Saturday. The chief mourners were his nephews, Messrs. E.J. MORGAN, Gwyn JONES, John BAMFORD, Ellis BAMFORD, Sydney BAMFORD, John BAMFORD, E. JOHN, and E. DUNKLEY. Whilst cycling along Richmond-road about 8 o'clock on Saturday night Daniel JONES, of 101, MacIntosh-place, a confidential clerk in the employ of Messrs. Alan JOHNSON and Co. Hills Dry Dock, fell from his machine and sustained injuries to the skull that necessiated his detention at the Royal Infirmary where he was removed. Arthur Stanley WESTON 19, of 23, Fairford-street, Cadoxton, engaged at the Gwalia Brick Quarry, Dinas Powis, died at the Town Accidental Hospital, following injuries sustained by being buried under a fall of rock. He  was engaged in undermining a ledge of rock which had to be removed when the roof collapsed. His workmates found him buried under.
