Edgar T. JENKINS, took place at Glyntaff Cemetery. There was short services at the house and at Calvary Chapel, Treforest; previous to the burial. POWELL, of Coldra New-road, Porthcawl, died on Wednesday morning. He was 70 years of age, and had been postmaster at Maesteg, but came to Porthcawl many years ago. His wife predeceased him about 4 years ago. He acted as sidesman at All Saints Church. The funeral will take place at Newton. The funeral of the late Mrs. Anne JOHNS, the wife of Councillor Henry JOHNS, Bengairn, 81, Ninian-road, Cardiff, took place at Cardiff Cemetery on Wednesday in the presence of a large and representative gathering. Mrs. JOHNS was 50 years of age, and a faithful member of the Hayes Tabernacle Church. The Rev.Charles DAVIES and ex-principal William EDWARDS conducted the service. The chief mourners were:- Councillor Henry JOHNS (husband), Rev. and Mrs G. Sorton DAVIES, B.A. (son-in-law and daughter), Mr. and Mrs W. MANTON, Rhiwbina, (son-in-law and daughter), Messrs. Gwynne, Haydn, and Kenneth JOHNS (sons), Mrs. HOLBORO (sister), Mr. J. PERKINS, (brother), Miss Nita CASADO. The death took place at Merthyr, of Mr. Joseph BRADDICK, formerly of the Mason's Arms, Cowbridge, and at one time known in the Vale of Glamorgan as a breeder of heavy shire horses. He was 95 years of age, and had resided with his daughter, Mrs. REYNOLDS, at Georgetown, Merthyr. His son is Mr. D.T. BRADDICK of the Cyfarthfa Brewery and Bottling Stores. The death took place at 117, Priory-street, Carmarthen, of Mr. Rhys EDWARDS, who, before his retirement some years ago, carried on a drapery business in High-street, Merthyr. Mr. EDWARDS, who was about 53 years of age, leaves a widow and four children. The death has occurred whilst on a shell-collecting expedition in Jamaica of Mr. George Arthur MARTIN, an enthusiastic South Wales conchologist and the son of Mr. Henry William MARTIN, of Sherwood, Newport-road, Cardiff. Mr. MARTIN, who was in his 38th year, was educated at Clifton and Bath, and spent several years in the National Museum of Wales. He left Cardiff two years ago on a collecting expedition, going first to Costa-Rica and thence to Jamaica. Mr. H.W. MARTIN was chief mining engineer at the Dowlais Collieries for some years and afterwards manager and agent of the Powell Duffryn Collieries. Mr. W. Lyndon MOORE, J.P., D.L., coroner for Newport, held an inquiry at Newport concerning the death of the child of Mrs. Dorothy BRUTE, Church-road, Newport. It was stated that the mother had arranged three months before confinement for a midwife and doctor. The child died before the arrival of the doctor. A verdict of "Accidental death" was returned, the Coroner adding that the child had died from inattention, but there had been no wilful negligence on the part of anyone. FIFTY YEARS AGO- Western Mail, May 13, 1876. Coaching at Monmouth.- Mr. Price HAMILTON, of Wilton, near Ross, has commenced running his four-horse coach from Ross to Monmouth and thence to Tintern. -------------------------------------------- Mr. Arthur G. HARRIS,12, Cathedral-road, Cardiff secured the dog and bitch challenge certificates, eight first prizes and three silver cups with his two Welsh terriers, "Hold Up" and "Take Care," at the Great Joint Terrier Show at Olympia, London. The coroner (Mr. David REES) conducted an inquest at Abertridwr touching the death of Frederick George NEALE, aged five son of Mr. Frederick NEALE, of 23, Upper Francis-street, Abertridwr, who was scalded on Friday last, and died on Saturday morning. It was stated that a bucket of water fell off the fire. Dr. James DONALDSON said the boy was badly scalded, and died from shock. The coroner returned a verdict "Accidental death." John Patrick
