The wedding took place at Llandaff Cathedral on Saturday of Mr. Robert John GARRETT, son of Mrs. GARRETT and the late Mr. GARRETT, of 27, Coplestone-road, Llandaff North, and Miss Constance Ivy PORTER, daughter of Mr. PORTER and the late Mrs. PORTER, of 107, Tymawr-road, Llandaff North. The bride, who was given away by Mr. William BENNETT, her brother-in-law, wore white georgette trimmed with silver, with a wreath of orange blossom on veil caught up with true lovers' knots. The bridemaids were Miss Alvena BENNETT, Miss Olive BENNETT (nieces of the bride), Miss Nellie GARRETT, and Miss Dorothy GARRETT, brother of the bridegroom, was the groomsman. The service was conducted by the Vicar of Llandaff (Canon D. Akrill JONES, M.A.). A reception was held at The Hall, Llandaff. KIERL - HOLLAND. The wedding took place on Saturday of Mr. James KIERL, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. P.J. KIERL, of Gladstone-road, Barry Dock, and Miss Gladys Irene HOLLAND, youngest daughter of ex-sergeant-major H.H. HOLLAND, R.G.A. (T.F.), and Mrs. HOLLAND, of Evelyn-street, Barry Dock, at St. Cadoc's Parish Church, Cadoxton. The Rev. Austin DAVIES, B.A., officiated. The bride was attired in a gown of pink georgette, and wore a wreath of orange blossom. The bridemaids were the Misses Vida HUGHES and Bertha WHITBY, Master H. SEAWARD acted as page, and Mr. Cliffe KIERL (brother) was best man. The bridegroom is hon. treasurer of Llandaff and Barry Junior Imperial League. DEARDEN - BURT The marriage took place at St. Paul's Church, Knightsbridge, London, on Saturday of Lieut. P.R. DEARDEN, R.N. (retired). son of the late Mrs. P. DEARDEN and of Mrs. DEARDEN, of Sandford, Avening, Gloucestershire, and Miss Nancy Margaret Stuart BURT, daughter of the late Mrs. Josephine BURT and Mr. Walter BURT, of 34, Lowndes-street, S.W. The bride was gowned in silver lace, with a silver tulle train edged with orange blossom, while her silver tulle veil was held in place by a coronet of silver lace and sprays of orange blossom.The bridemaids were Miss J. BURT, Miss Helen DEARDEN, and Miss CV. KITSON. The best man was Mr. Evan THOMAS. Bishop Russell WAKEFIELD and the Rev. L.A. WALLER were officiating clergy, and a reception was held at the Hyde Park Hotel. While bathing at Porthcawl on Saturday Mrs. Winifred JENKINS, of 27, Heolminer, Tonyrefail, met with a trying experience, and, although rescued, she was reported late on Saturday night to be still in a serious condition. When she went to bathe the sea was running high, and she was soon in difficulties, being unable to reach the shore. Her plight was witnessed by a Porthcawl miner, Tom LEE, who pluckily went to her aid, and after a hard struggle, succeeded in bringing her back. Mrs. JENKINS was conveyed to the Bridgend Workhouse Infirmary, where she was detained. PUBLIC APPOINTMENTS. The County School, Cardigan. Albert Victor JONES, a railwayman, of Griffithstown, was charged on remand at Pontypool with having attempted to cause sedition and disaffection among the civilian population by certain speeches and actions on May 9 and 10. Inspector HILL, of the railway police said he had been instructed to apply for the withdrawal of the case. The application was granted, but the Chairman (Mr. B. NICHOLAS) advised the defendant to be most cautious in these dangerous times as to what he said or did either publicly or in a small group privately. Mr. P.
