The chief contest at Bridgend on Saturday ended abruptly, Billy GREEN (Taffs Well) knocking out half-way through the first round Billy WAGSTAFFE (Abercynon). Young COLLINS (Abercynon) and Stan JEHU (Maesteg) put up a splendid fight over six rounds, the Maesteg lad being returned the winner on points. The body found near the passenger boat pontoons in the Cardiff Dock was identified at the inquest on Saturday before the city coroner (Dr. R.J. SMITH), as that of Thomas FARLEY, 58, colliery ostler, High-street, Kenfig Hill. The Coroner, addressing the son, Richard Charles FARLEY, said: "You saw the report published first by a Cardiff paper concerning the finding of the body." "That shows the value of the press again. I am much obliged to the publicity they have given to this matter." The son stated that his father had suffered from influenza about three weeks ago, and had since been very depressed. Police-constable Richard THOMAS, Great Western Railway Police, spoke to finding the body, which was face downwards in the mud. Dr. Tom WALLACE said that death was due to drowning, and the Coroner, in returning a verdict accordingly, remarked he could not say under what circumstances the man met his fate. John Patrick
