    3. Mike Nash is not a big place http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~monfamilies/nash-bap-166-220.jpg part of Mike John's extensive Monmouthshire Parish Registers site, has baptism on 10th June 1770 of Arnold son of Arnold WALTER There are other children of Arnold WALTER , for example Thomas on 17 May 1767 and Edward 26 Jan 1772 where the father's surname is WALTERS. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~monfamilies/marrpre1812/nashmarrG1725-1817.htm is worth searching as Arnold WATERS is witness to a number of marriages in Nash, as if he was a churchwarden or parish overseer in the 1780s/1790s. Parish officers might often witness marriages if they could read and write, including those of people unrelated to them. An Arnold WATERS was buried in Nash age 93 on 24 May 1813 It may well be worth looking at other parishes nearby along the Gwent levels, low-lying land along the coast of the Bristol Channel. There are WATERS entries in Goldcliff, for example. http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/wal/MON/Nash/index.html has a 'nearby places' section which may help if you are unfamiliar with the local geography.
