Hi Ann & all, Thanks very much for that information. I took a look at the website and see that there are several fiches that cover the graveyard. If anyone has the index fiche to the Monumental Inscriptions at Trevethin (M05 Trevethin St Cadoc's INDEX) and could tell me which fiche includes William GOULD buried at Trevethin St Cadoc's on 28th Jan 1845, then I will happily purchase it from Gwent FHS. Hi All, My great x3 grandfather, William GOULD, died on 27 Jan 1845 in Trevethin, Pontypool, and was buried the next day at the Parish Church. Would anyone know whether there is a gravestone marking his burial, and if so, is there a monumental inscription on it ? Have the MI's been transcribed and/or indexed ? He came from Chewton Mendip in Somerset and was a stone mason, so I would also be interested to hear whether anyone else has an ancestor who travelled to Trevethin for work-related reasons around 1845. William's family were all born in Chewton Mendip, so I don't think he had been living in Trevethin for very long. He left his wife behind in Somerset. Thanks, Mike Gould Leicestershire

In 1901 the household consists of Abraham Davy, his wife Maria Jane Davy, son Edwin James Davy and Bertie R Reynolds his nephew aged 9 months. In 1911 there is one extra member of the family there, Edwin's wife, Hannah. This time the nephew is called Redvers Bertie Reynolds aged 10. Living in Church St, Bedwas on both occasions. Hi, this is not anything to do with Monmouthshire, but is there anyone out there who can decipher a name on a Scottish death certificate for me, please? Been helped before King Marjorie marje@adelaide.on.net
Hi Adrian, Cannot help you with the details you are seeking but it is possible my family and yours are linked. I don't have my notes at hand but my grandfather's younger brother married a woman with the surname POTHECARY. He family were from South Wales. I will dig up the information and get back to you. Best wishes, Charles
My great great grandfather John POTHECARY was baptised in Wellow, Somerset on 15 October 1820. The 1841 census shows that he was a miner aged 20 living at Garnfach, Nantyglo Iron Works, Aberystruth, Monmouthshire. He married Sarah EVANS in the parish church at Llanelly, Breconshire on 7 August 1842 when he was a miner living in Brynmawr. The couple were living in Cwmcelyn in 1843 and 1845 when their daughters Mary Ann and Jane were born. By 1849 the family was living in Bedwellty when their daughter Elizabeth was born. By the time of the 1851 census the family had moved to 106 Hall St, Victoria. Their later children were born: - 1852 Ellen born Contractors row, Bedwellty 1856 George born at the same address 1858 William born Cwmderrch, Bedwellty 1860 Sarah born at the same address The 1861 census shows the family living at Top of Crumlin, Penmain, Mynyddislwyn. 1862 William died and Rosa born Crumlin 1865 John born Crumlin The 1871 census shows the family living at 53 Himalaya Range, Manmoel, Tredegar The 1881 census shows the family living at 21 Himalaya Range, Bedwellty 13 April Sarah died at 2 New Houses, Tredegar 1884 John died at 2 Trodrhiwgwair, Tredegar I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has come across the baptisms of the various children or, indeed, anyone who has a connection with this family. More details of this family are on my web-site at: - http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~adrianp/index.html Just click on Pothecary in the table at the foot of the homepage.
