    3. Thanks. We're planning a trip to record offices at some point, when we've gathered enough to know what we're looking for and where to look. Are you by any fortunate chance from the same line of Watkins as he is? Probably not, or you'd have said so. 3. Hello I'm on other lists, but I've joined this one on behalf of a friend, who's brand new to family history and brand new to computers, so I'm helping him get started. He wants information on the WATKINS family of Crumlin. He knows quite a bit as he knew the grave of his great grandparents as a child, and it's still legible. I've been able to trace these people on censuses. They are: Thomas WATKINS - born c1806, Coal agent, later farmer Sarah WATKINS (maiden name unknown) - born c 1806 Llewellyn WATKINS born c1836 Henry WATKINS born c1838 Thomas WATKINS born c1840 Sarah WATKINS born c1843 Ann WATKINS born c1846 William WATKINS born c1848 John WATKINS born c1850 Henry died as a baby. Thomas, Sarah and Ann all died in the early 1860s in their 20s. I've found from the net that there was a cholera epidemic in Wales in 1866, but that was after these deaths. Could they have been part of an early stage of this, or was there another epidemic, or was it just a series of bad luck? John WATKINS is my friend's grandfather. He was a relieving officer. Could anyone tell me where we might look for records of a relieving officer's work? There's a gap in 1871, when I can't find any of them. I expect it's a mistranscription, and I'll continue to look. If anyone is related to the WATKINS, or knows anything about them, please get in touch. Thanks for reading this. His website is at http://users.sa.chariot.net.au/~ronoch/famhis/harris.htm . He has a Godfrey HARRIS born September 1784, same as yours. I'm after some marriages and later baptisms as well as some records from nearby churches. Been through all the census from 1841 but having a spot of trouble with this family. Godfrey HARRIS, in particular, is causing me strife. According to 1851 census he is a 65 yr old widower in Alms house Chepstow - that ties in fine with birth of kids and his christening in 1784. However, along comes the 1841 census with Godfrey 40 yr, with Mary 45 yrs, Godfrey 6 yrs, and Richard 15 yrs. (No sign of this young Godfrey in subsequent census either.) 3. Hi Roy, there are no Irish censuses online.......yet! The only censuses that are available are the 1901 and 1911, with a very minimal 1851. All Irish censuses are street indexed only, so a name search will take forever and a day. It may also help if you knew where in Ireland your BRYAN came from. As I was looking through on Ancestry, I couldn't help but notice that a lot of Bryans came from Ireland,so,my question is,how do I get into the Irish census?Just in case he was there. Thank you, Roy

    3. Roy, as far as I am aware the Irish census records were destroyed when there was an explosion and fire at the government buildings in 1922. Most Irish research has to be done through parish registers most of which are still with the incumbent parish priests. although there are more and more records coming online every day as people realise what a money spinner it can be, ann Macey List Admin ----- Original Message ----- From: "Roy Davies" <roy.davies43@ntlworld.com> ,my question is,how do I get into > the Irish census?Just in case he was there.
