    2. Greg Price
    3. Folks: I sent the message below yesterday. Two more things...1) Send your request to my email address at gregprice@innevi.com Please DO NOT send it to the mailing list. 2) The site url is http://www.rootsweb.com/~wlsmon/ Thank you. If you have a personal website that may be be of genealogical value to those with Monmouthshire roots and would like to have a link to your site included in the Personal Web Pages section of the Monmouthshire GenWeb site, please send me an email with the url and a brief desription of the site. No commercials sites please. In the subject line of your email, please put the following, "Please Add my Web Page". For the past five years we've only had 3 personal web sites listed and I'm sure there must be many more we could add. Thanks all! Greg Greg Price Monmouthshire Genweb Project Web Coordinator

    1. Re: [MON] 1871 Census-Bedwellty
    2. Rachel Boyd
    3. Hi Bella, The problem is that Bedwellty census is divided up into three towns, Aberystruth, Rock Bedwelty and Tredegar; each one of those is divided up into districts. I have looked at page 4 of each district in Aberystruth and Rock Bedwelty, and do not find the family you reference. It will take longer to check Tredegar... there are 42 districts! Is there anything else you can make out at the top of the page which might narrow it down? or can you make out the ref number RG10/____ and the folio # at the top? Rachel CT, USA "bellapmcharter.net" <bellapm@charter.net> wrote: Hello folks,' Been away from my research but am dusting off the papers and have some questions....again!! My copy of the page (4) of the above census is VERY faded in some places and I can't decipher the info I need. Any help? The 3rd household lists a MARY WILLIAMS-Head; I can't tell if she is married or not, I can't tell her age, and I can't decipher her birthplace.. Immediately below her is another MARY WILLIAMS (I think) listed as daur. I can't decipher her age either nor her marital status. The remaining three children, called "grandchildren" are known to me. Sarah Anne, the youngest, is my grandmother. I am having trouble establishing the connection to "WILLIAMS" for these EVANS kids. They are found 10 years later in Mt. Ash in the household of one, DAVID WILLIAMS. where they are listed as lodgers. Hoping someone has a clearer copy and can help me out. I would also like to know the "town" as that is unclear also.' I don't speak Welsh but can say.. Diolch en Fawr. This would be about the right age and possibly the right area as one of my forebear's birth was listed there even though he and his parents lived at Abersychan. It may not be your Mary Ann but if it is, it mght explain her absence from the 1901 Census. Regards Ray Lewis Hazelmere Western Australia Surname interests Monmouthshie: Davies; Jones; Lewis

    2. Adrian Parry
    3. Mary Ann POTHECARY was born in Cwmcelyn, Aberystruth on 26 September 1843. She was a widow when she married James WARREN in Newport Register Office in 1896. James was born in Christchurch c 1831/32. I have located Mary Ann's details from the various census returns from 1851 to 1891 inclusive, but not from 1901. Can anyone help, please? Adrian

    3. G'day List I am asking for help again. I am in the middle of writing about my father's family which lived in Pontypool, Pontewynydd, and Abersychan during the last half of the 19th C and the early years of the 20th. Is there anyone who can tell me of a suitable text (available here in Australia, hopefully) which describes the social and industrial conditions in the Eastern Valleys at that time. I am particularly interested in the period 1870 - 1916 but anything which dealt with the period would be welcome. Regards Ray Lewis Surname Interests in Monmouthshire: Davies; Jones; Lewis

    1. [MON] PRITCHARD
    2. John Steitz
    3. I have recently made huge in-roads studying my PRITCHARD line. This success is solely due to the knowledge and efforts of folk within these two mailing lists. I would commend you individually but I fear missing someone. There were many. Thank you all! Unfortunately, until I hit Adam & Eve (or two suitably named apes), I may not be satisfied. My Henry PRITCHARD was born about 1849, son of a __________ and Keziah/ Kezia/ Kesia PRITCHARD born 1828 in Llanfygan, Breconshire, Wales. The surname never changed for he or his younger sister Mary PRITCHARD born 1850. They both show on Wales 1851 census as grandchildren of David & Keziah Pritchard. I believe his mother, Keziah, died shortly after his sister Mary's birth. He is listed as born in St Mary which I would assume is a district within Brecon. Henry eventually married my GG-Grandmother Marry Hayes in 1872 in Tredegar, Monmouthshire, Wales. Can anyone solve the mystery of who the father may be? Thanks for any efforts? John

    3. Hi Mary Have a good holiday. Will be interested in outcome of marriage cert. My auntie used to live in Nelson Street around 1945, down a little alley beside the Nelson pub so I can well remember it. Cottages with little back yards. The Nelson was a grotty old pub where the lorry drivers used to go for their smoke and food. Regards Dawn dawn.cumbley@virgin.net ----- Original Message -----

    3. This is probably old news for many other members, in which case I apologise, but I've recently been directed to this very useful list of all Monmouth parishes http://tinyurl.com/ywqujm which shows those which border on each other. There's also a map http://tinyurl.com/226bb2 showing the complete geography - especially useful for those living a long way away. Robert
