Hi Mary, The "Miner and Mechanic" is available for April 1905 (according to my "Missouri Newspapers on Microfilm at the State Historcial Society of Missouri" pamphlet). This is the newspaper where I find obituaries on my family. You can get it and the Joplin one thru Interlibrary Loan at your local public library. Also, the "Joplin Daily Globe" (also available for April 1905) is another newspaper that has Newton Co. Obits in it. I braved the ice and snow here in KC, KS and looked up Levi Piper's marriage for you as well as some of my own family's. Levi married Sebell York on 21 September 1890. They were married by G. W.
