There is also a current Fort Monroe as well as Seneca in Virginia, but I'm not sure when that Fort was established nor where they are in relation to each other. I did find that the fort is on the coast & Seneca south of Lynchburg. Also, although Seneca MO was platted in 1868, I've seen early reference to it in court records, like in the 1840's wherein the members of the county court are giving the official go-ahead to establish a formal road between Neosho & Seneca. (if I remember correctly) I'm not good on the detailed history of the area, but do remember a tidbit occasionally.
