1860 Newton Co Federal Census page 934 Granby Township Asa Scott 62 M KY Miner Estate $50 * Mary Scott 48 F IL * John Jones 22 M MO Miner Mike Hettenbron 35 M MO Miner Julius Scott 22 M MO Miner *cannot read/write Asa and Mary were in Franklin C MO for the 1850 census. Asa died before the 1870 census - where? Their children settled in Dallas/Laclede Counties MO. Son Julius appears on the 1860 Newton Co Census and the 1860 Dallas Co Census. How can I find out more about mining in Newton Co? Are employee rolls from the mining companies available anywhere? Are there death records for this time period? Any help would be most appreciated as Asa seems to have fallen off of the face of the earth ofter the 1860 census. Thank you.
