    3. Hi Deb, William White (m. Rachel Ferguson) was a bugler with Co K, Regiment 6 of the Kansas Calvary. He served 31 Dec 1861 - 18 Mar 1865, 3 yrs, 2 mos, 17days. William would have been 16 when he enlisted. Regiment 6 was in Granby (September 24, 1862) and Newtonia (September 29/30 and October 4th, 1862). Family lore says William met Rachel during this time and after the war returned to marry her. I believe you can find actual documentation of the 6th Kansas Calvary's presence in Newtonia and also William White's Union service. Glad you enjoyed your trip! Could any of you who research the Newton County WHITE and/or FERGUSON names tell me if you have either in oral family history or actual documentation anyone from either family serving for Union or Confederacy in either the 1862 or 1864 Newtonia battles?
