I need some help to answer a smail inquiry. Abel Landers, Son of Christopher, was in VanBuren Twp., Newton Co. in 1850 Abel was very visable, on the committee to locate the second Barry Co. courthouse and to lay out the city of Carthage. His wife was Sally Ann Shipman. In 1850, Mary E Shipman age 15 was in their home. In 1850, Francis M Landers 20 and Phebe 18 lived next door with C.S Landers 29 adn Mahala 28 next in line. The writer states that Jacob Shipman, brother to Sally Ann, married Elizabeth Landers and wants to know if Elizabeth was sister to Abel??? I know that Abel and most of these families relocated to (Hood Co. or nearby) Texas before 1860, where Abel became a judge. Any help will be appreciated. Bill Landers Cape Cod, MA
I don't have a Martha Jane or Jennie Brewer listed, but my Brewer line is a little sketchy. Do you or anybody on the list know anything about the Robert Wilson and Mary J Hanna BREWER family that is listed in the 1870 Newton Co census, Granby, page 373? Children shown are: Frances b. 1848, Samuel b. 1850, Sarah J b. 1853, Malinda b. 1857, and Dolly, b. 1867. All the children except Dolly were born in Washington Co, AR. Robert Wilson Brewer is the brother of Hetty Brewer who married Edmund Ferguson. I noticed an advertisement for "Newton Co. MO History" in the Genealogical Helper magazine this month. I'm not sure if this is a new publication or if I had just not noticed the ad before. Has anyone seen this book? Is it of value to genealogy research in the County? Dana

Also living with them was Hannah HECKATHORN listed as mother-in-law so assuming her daughter to be Mary. I have searched for the name BILLHOMES in all states and come up with nothing.
