Yes the number after the M shows which marriage M2 means second marriage. ----- Original Message ----- From: Linda Simmons <genfreak@jps.net> To: <MONEWTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 19, 2001 7:35 PM Subject: [MONEWTON] 1910 Newton County Census > I have copies of some pages of the 1910 Newton County census. If anyone has the 1910 census and can find Elsie,Effie,Charley,Ina or William Woodcock or John Blankenship on it I would sure be grateful.Thank you.NJ
I forgot where I found the enumerators instructions for the census years. M2 should be 2nd marriage for that person. I've forgotten where to find the on-line printable forms. Ancestry.com or familysearch.org But it doesn't tell why the M1 or M2 shows up on the form. Fortuna Missouri is located in Moniteau Co.NJ
By Jove, I think we have a hit! Although Fortina was what was in the obit, Fortuna makes perfect sense (obit from another state) The location fits with the general area of where the family lived - well, within 100 miles, anyhow. Thanks to several of you ~ that was fast! Joy, SW MO
There is a FORTUNA in Moniteau Co. Mo.
Hi All, I'm stumped on a place location. From an obit dated 1924 it references a place called Fortina, Missouri. It's not in Newton County (sorry) but you folks are always super helpful. I can't find it thru my normal search functions, so any leads would be appreciated. I think it might be in the North 1/2 of the state - but darned, that's pretty big! Many thanks, Joy
I have copies of some pages of the 1910 Newton County census. I noticed that the marital status for married individuals has a number with it. Most have M1 but many have M2. Does anybody know if this means that those with M2 had a prior marriage? I always suspected my elusive Great Grandfather, George W Brown, had a prior marriage. He was almost 40 when he married my Great Grandmother, Cordelia Mason. He's one of the ones with M2. Thanks for any input on this, Linda
Do you think it could be a typo and it might be Fortuna? I've heard of Fortuna but not sure exactly where it's located. It's North of Springfield - but isn't most of Missouri? :-) Good Luck, Linda ----- Original Message ----- From: "Joy Hobbs" <beatsme@netins.net> To: <MONEWTON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, January 19, 2001 4:02 PM Subject: [MONEWTON] Place location help > Hi All, > I'm stumped on a place location.
