Would Katherine Nichols Lea have been buried in this cemetery? She is the sister to my great-great-grandfather, Malichi Nichols. Claire Wichelmann

If anyone has information for Lenda McGuire about the Rensenhauser Cemetery could you post it to the list. We are descendant from the LEA family and they are buried there. The information we have on it, the graves were obliterated by piles of gravel from a nearby rock quarry. The location is off the New Baxter Springs Rd. , near the Old Baxter Springs Rd., so we were told. Thanks
Hi, I am looking for information on Joel Foster he was in Newton Co., Mo sometime between 1865 and 1886. Supposedly he was working in the lead mines. Does anyone have access to the 1870 & 1880 census? Are the census records indexed? If it isn't to much trouble would someone mind looking for me. I need to know if it shows a wife & also a daughter Mary Elizabeth. It is possible he was in Jasper co., also. Joplin has been mentioned. Thanking you in advance for any information you might be able to give me. Sincerely Lenda McGuire
Hi, I am looking for Elizabeth E. Kimbrell McGuire, she was on the 1880 census of Shoal Creek, Newton Co., where she was employed by & lived with the Lea family. She was born in 1831 in Tn. It is my understanding that she married a McLeary sometime after 1880 & is possibly buried in Newton Co.. Some of the Lea family is buried in Resenhauser Cemetery. Are there any records for this Cemetery? I am in Texas. I came to Newton County, Mo., 3 years ago to do some looking but didn't have any idea where to start & didn't find anything. Also her sons Grafton & Joseph Melvin were employed there in the area also for the Lea's. It is possible that they worked in the mines after 1880 as did her son Newton Jack. However I have information on Newton Jack, I just need information on the rest of the family. Sincerely, Lenda McGuire
Victoria; Genealogy Friends of the Library dues are $9.00 per year. A real bargain for 4 quarterly reports, plus all the other functions this dedicated group performs. You can submit an article to be published and maybe find others who are researching your ancestors. Janet Crain Genealogy Friends of the Library P.O. Does anybody have any information or know where I can find info on the 10th Kansas Volunteer Infantry? My GG Grandfather, Thomas J Mitchell/Mitchel/Michel, enlisted with Co F of the 10th KS Inf (3 Mar 1863 - 30 Aug 1865). Thomas Mitchell (1840 - 1914)is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, N of Granby. His children married and lived around the Granby area. Nancy Hannah Mitchell m. John Crouch Sarah 'Sallie' Mitchell m. William White Artie Samantha Mitchell m. Jesse Fullerton Clarence Manzole Mitchell m. Edith Fullerton Amy Mitchell m. Phillip (no relation) Mitchell Ruth Mitchell m. 1st George McDaniel, 2nd William White Lucy Mitchell m. Mora/Mory 'Mode' White Thomas Mitchell m. Inez Johnson Anna Mitchell m. Horace Laurance and Earl Benintendi I am trying to find out who Thomas Mitchell's parents were. I've tried locating a death certificate - but no luck. I'll try again with the alternative spelling (Michel) and will send for copies of his service records. His father was from Georgia his mother Virginia and they were closely aligned with the 'OWEN(S) family of Lawrence Co. Anybody know anything about these early Mitchells or the Kansas Inf? Thanks, Linda
Karen, I show Harry Wetherell as Henry Leroy Wetherell married to Bessie Pearl Watson in 1914. My ancestor, Frances Luhaney Craig married George Wetherell in 1868, Newton Co. Henry Wetherell is the GGrandson of George and Frances.
Thanks to everybody who replied. What a great list! Somebody always has the answer. Maybe with this clue I can find some trace of him between 1850 and 1886. Linda, The M2 on the 1910 census does mean 2nd marriage. Rachel
