    1. Re: [MONEWMAD] Akin, Benton, also Lawson
    2. For Mary: Thank you for your reply. Elizabeth Akin was at least 15, maybe, when she married Reuben Lawson, so she couldn't be the the young woman who married Reuben. I was hoping to maybe find an Akin family that moved west across central Indiana, probably by way of Cinncinnati and Terre Haute, IN. There was a wagon road across there in the early 1830's. Elizabeth Akin Lawson was desceced before the census of 1850. I have other Lawson relatives who settled in New Madrid. That is why I still belong to the list. Wathen, b. 1840; they are my paternal gr-grandparents. (Bettie's uncle was Judge Benton Akin whose third wife was named Elizabeth Emory.) This Akin branch (John Akin, b. circa 1785) migrated from Ireland to Cape Girardeau, Missouri and from there to New Madrid. Maries County, Mo. is in the middle of the state and is located several hundred miles from New Madrid. Sorry I cannot help you. -- Mary Sue Anton "New Madrid: A Mississippi River Town in History and Legend" On Aug 2, 2010, at 7:47:58 PM, [email protected] wrote: [email protected] NOTICE: Posting of virus warnings, test messages, chain letters, political announcements, current events, items for sale, personal messages, flames, etc. (in other words - spam) is NOT ALLOWED and will be grounds for removal.
