Born Jan. 18, 1919, in Grayridge, to the late John Luster and Linnie Bruce Tarrants, she moved to Bernie 10 months ago after living for 48 years in Morehouse where she was a member of the United Pentecostal Church. On Nov. 6, 1937, in Canalou, she married Lucian L. Appleton who preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 1966. She was also preceded in death by three brothers, Sam Tarrants, Frank Tarrants and William Tarrants. Survivors include: five sons, Roland Appleton of Bertrand, Larry Appleton of Sikeston, Ronnie Appleton of Oran, Leon Appleton of Brownsburg, Ind., and Bruce Appleton of Bernie; four daughters, Shirley Haynie-Kersey of Sikeston, Sandra Odle of Bonne Terre, Margaret Moffitt of High Point, N.C., and Joan Lewis of Bernie; one foster son, Kip Reischman of the state of Maine; two brothers, John "Bud" Tarrants of Raymondsville and Harold Tarrants of Morehouse; two sisters, Uneita Tarrants of Elwood, Ind., and Myrtle Donnelly of St. Louis; and 23 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday at the Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter where services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday. The Revs. Phillip Cook of Marshfield and Harold Shepard of Doniphan will officiate. Burial will follow in the Essex Cemetery.
