Author: TheresaRGriffiths Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.newmadrid/2211/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The Sikeston Herald - February 15, 1945 SERVICES HELD TUESDAY FOR MOREHOUSE WOMAN Funeral services were conducted at the high school gymnasium at Morehouse at 2:30 o'clock Tues- day afternoon for Mrs. Ruth Owings, who died at Sikeston General Hospital last Saturday. Mrs. Owings suffered a stoke of apoplexy and was removed to the hospital, where death occurred a short time later. Rev. M. A. Massey, pastor of the Methodist church, conducted the rites. Burial was made in Memorial Park cemetery with Al- britton service. Mrs. Ruth Owings was born at Caruthersville September 19, 1904. For the past ten years she had resided at Morehouse with her family. Beside her husband, Virgil Owings, four daughters, Betty Ruth, Nadine, Wanda and Suanne, and two sons, Virgil J. and Guy W. Owings, all of Morehouse, sur- vive. Other survivors include her mother, Mrs. Myrtle Hampton, of San Diego, Calif., a sister Mrs. M. E. Stewart, of Fort Smith, Ark. And two brothers John R. and Paul G. Peavler, with the armed forces overseas. A half- brother Charles M. Hampton, ser- ving with the army of England, is also amoung the survivors.
