My ancester Joseph Lewis was born 1766 in Halifax, VA. He moved to New Madrid, Missouri around 1800. He was the 2nd sheriff of New Madrid County from 1802 to 1812 when he moved to Cape Girardeau, Missouri after the earth quake. He had one brother John and three sistes; Ann, Elizabeth & Mary. He married a Miss Cooper from Kentucky. Her dad was Thomas P. Cooper. If this is your line please contact me at [email protected] I have info on the family up to myself.
