I have photos of the monuments of my grandparents, my great-grandparents, and my 3th great-grandparents...all Lafonts. I am only missing my 2rd great-grandparents, Robert and Mary Lafont in Meatte Cemetery. It will mean so much for me to complete the line of Lafonts with their monuments for my children and grandchildren. Hopefully, I will get a response. Thank you for your reply. Author: mlh40 Surnames: SHY Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.newmadrid/2273/mb.ashx Message Board Post: For the past several years, I have been researching a SHY family from Missouri. An archived letter dated August 1974 from a researcher, now deceased, stated she had found a family cemetery plot in New Madrid County, Mo. in the early 1960s. This plot was on a farm once owned by her family. When she return some years later, she found the cemetery to be overgrown, being used as a dump site, and the tombstones missing. The current owner shared that three individuals from Illinois, stating they were relatives of the SHY family, came and wanted to remove the tombstones to a family cemetery which was thought to be in Illinois (possibly Missouri). This researcher died without locating these SHY family tombstones. I am currently picking up the search for these stones. If anyone knows the whereabouts of 8-12 tombstones with SHY names inscribed on all or most of them, I would be most interested in locating them for genealogical purposes only. Names that may be inscribed: Samue! l; Castria b. August 16, 1806, d. June 12, 1847; Seburn; Margaret; Samuel R. A. or Jr.; Robert. Any help would greatly be appreciated!
