James is said to have had 2 brothers. James was court judge for New Madrid District and County 1842-1848 and Sheriff & Collector/Assessor 1844-1846, New Madrid. James was 1/2 owner of the steamboat Talma which hit a snag and was lost near New Madrid 1848. We think he died in the accident. Anything on these two would be appreciated. I know "Gid" had 3 daughters (Martha b. 1889, Emma b. 1892, & Iva/Ivy b. 1893) and was widowed as of 1900 New Madrid census (St. John). Martha (Mattie) is my ggmother; she married Robert Davidson and moved to OK and then TX. Because the 1890 census is missing, and the fact that it looks like little old New Madrid Co. info is transcribed or indexed for search, I can't find any documentation for this marriage, Corinda's death, or her burial place. I'm not even sure who Gid's parents were, except that I know that he was born in MO and his folks were likely born in TN. Is there anyone out there looking for the same folks or would be willing to do a lookup? She was born September 03, 1887 (1886) and died May 04, 1961 in Gideon, Missouri. They were married September 1903. She had brothers named Coleman and Frank and one sister named Sallie (Gray) Silivia. Martha lived around Sikeston, Missouri and Gideon, Missouri most of her married life and is buried in Stanfield Cemetary in Clarkton, Missouri. Any information on her would be greatly appreciated as we know very little about her. It is said that she was part Indian but no official records on this. She had 5 children: Lynn Jordan, Leslie Jordan, Daisy Jordan-Blanchard (my grandmother), Infant girl, and Lawrence Jordan. Thank you.
