Should anyone be interested, here is the most recent update regarding our favorite underwater cemetery! ...regarding a cemetery that washed into the Lynnhaven River. Our plan is to conduct a side scan sonar survey of an area believed to be in the vicinity of where the church and cemetery were located. Our objective is to see if there is anything projecting off the river's bottom that suggests the remains of either a church or cemetery are present. My hope is that this survey will be conducted in May. I am waiting for the return of the firm that will conduct the survey. At this moment they are working in New York state. Regarding a possible dredging operation, this is not, nor was not, scheduled to to have any impact in the area to be surveyed. I hope this is helpful.
