In "American Wills & Adminstration in the Court of Canterbury 1610-1857" 1989 Geneologiacal publishing Co. Page 214.... Moncrieffe Thomas of New York, Major in H.M. service, widower, Administration to Thomas Vaugh, attorney for the son, Edward Cornwallis Moncrieffe in Dungannon, Ireland, July 1792. We keep looking for a Scot. Tonight I was impressed with the material for Moncreiff (a spelling I had not pursued) There are a lot of Williams and Alexanders and Johns. I was ordering the birth records from Perthshire when the note said there were none for 1649-1687. Certain things really bother me. 1. There are no siblings for John. There is no will for Thomas. I believe that John came to America from somewhere. I don't think his father spelled his name moncrieffe. There is probably some clue to John in Currituck or under water. (Ready to go, John) My next hope is that someone will join this list that has some information we haven't explored. There is almost no traffic in the library on Wednesday night so I am free to do my own work. I know people who have worked on one problem as long as 28 years. I hope we can solve this sooner!
