Author: JShepp0844 Surnames: Crook, Tooley Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.missouri.counties.morgan/1319/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Today while looking up some deeds I ran across a deed that was executed March 11, 1861 from William W Crook to William P Tooley that mentioned the below mentioned slaves, one negro man 37, one negro woman 27 and her three children, one negro woman 22 and her four children. It then mentions some names - negro man, Henry and negro woman, Matilda; negro boy Duff, negro boy Jim, negro girl Angeline, negro woman Cinthia, negro girl Moll, negro girl Nan, negro boy Taylor. Only 9 names but count above is 10. This was found in Sheriff's Deed, Book 14, pages 88 and 89. They were sold February 2, 1863 at the Court House in Versailles to the highest bidder, John Tooley.
