Hello to all-- I have been trying for 8 years to find information on my maternal grandmother, Gladys Hibdon Spiller. The Morgan County connection is that her sister, Grace Hibdon, married Charles Melton. Gladys and Grace were the daughters of Benjamin Cullock Hibdon and Cynthia Murnetts(?) All the notes I've found indicate the Murnetts name spelling is a little uncertain. I am able to trace Benjamin Cullock Hibdon's roots WAY back, thanks to all the good work of other researchers, but when I try to research Cynthia, I hit a wall. All my life, I was told my grandmother was proud of her Native American blood, but I cannot find anything on this and am very interested in confirming this if I can. Other relatives recall my grandmother saying she was of Choctaw descent. I have searched both her parents' names on the Dawes rolls but found nothing. Can anyone tell me whether there is Native American ancestry on the Hibdon side, or whether they know anything of the Murnetts side? Any help will be sincerely appreciated! The family wants to know!
