Madden dies in Missouri. Body returned to Reno, Iowa for burial: "Mr. Thomas [William] Madden [Sr.] passed away at the home of his son, John Madden, near Versailles, [Morgan County], Missouri, Tuesday P.M., September 19. 1933. After services there Wednesday A.M. they started for Iowa. They arrived at the William Madden [Jr.] home near Wiota, Cass County, Iowa, Wednesday evening and the funeral was Thursday at 10:00 A.M. at the Reno M.E. Church and he was laid to rest in the Reno Cemetery. Mr. and Mrs. John Madden and Mr. and Mrs. Dana Lehman and the Versailles undertaker came with the body, the undertaker returning to Versailles Thursday P.M. but Mr. and Mrs. Madden and Mr. and Mrs. Lehman visited relatives here until Saturday." -- -- -- -- -- . OBITUARY: . Thomas William Madden [Sr.] was born October 27, 1851, near Belmont, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, and departed this life on September 19, 1933, at the home of his son, John E. Madden, of Versailles, [Morgan County], Missouri at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 25 days. . He was married in 1874 to ALICE LUNETTA PORTER, who preceeded him in death in [June of 1882]. . To this union were born five children, all of whom survive to mourn his departure. The children are John E. Madden, Versailles, Missouri; Thomas William Madden [Jr.], Wiota, Iowa; Mrs. Cora Hunt; and, Bertha Harper of Fairbury, Nebraska. . He is also survived by one sister, Mrs. Isiah [Esther Madden] Porter, of Cumberland, Iowa, and three grandchildren. . After his wife's death, he made his home mostly with his sons. . (END) . Alice (Porter) Madden is buried in Walnut Shade, Taney Co., Missouri.
