    1. Re: [MOMORGAN] MOMORGAN Digest, Vol 4, Issue 36
    2. Building the lake of the Ozarks was a community effort and many families that lived in the area worked on the project in one way or another. I have always loved to recount the stories my grandfather Emory A Paul who was a farmer and lived in Barnett, Mo for more than 80 years told us at the family table. He worked moving the graves from the old cemeteries plus some other jobs. What a story teller he was, always embellishing his daily experiences and making every day special because of his retelling. I'm going to check out the records at the University of Missouri this summer. Bonnie Morris Conrad

    2. According to second hand information I have, both Rachel Larimore and her husband Joseph Williams are buried in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Morgan Co., Missouri. My notes show she died about 1875 (I think this date is incorrect) and he died about 1894. My g-g-grandmother was Zippora Larimore who married John Greenstreet in Franklin Co., MO. Zippora was a daughter of Richard Larimore Sr. and Rachel Mc Daniel and a sister of Rachel Larimore Williams. My mother was a Greenstreet. Hope this helps. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, August 20, 2009 2:01 AM Subject: MOMORGAN Digest, Vol 4, Issue 36 > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 2. That is the correct email address for Bill Williams. [email protected]_ (mailto:[email protected]) Bill and Dorothy recently received a commendation from the Missouri State Historical Society for their wonderful work transcribing all the cemeteries in Morgan County. I have said over and over that for researchers their hard work has changed the face of researching for Morgan County and what the rest of us accomplish pails in comparison. They continue to update their files as time passes. A fellow researcher Bonnie Morris Conrad

    3. Thank you to all who responded so far. (New leads still appreciated!) All tidbits of information seem to be pulling together, and I believe we are "near" the correct area. The address was indeed off LR 5-33 (Sunrise Beach) as a pay phone record has been located for Eagan's Twin Coves. Fresh information from my mother: I remember Hwy 5 (south from Versailles) and going past Sunrise Beach. We turned left (east) on a dirt road just before the Hurricane Deck. This road was very long and I think Eagan;s was almost to the end. I remember a name of Whispers/whispering coves (?) resort maybe next door or nearby. One possible location sent to me was "Twin Coves Point" > Map: > http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=33279+Evergreen+Road,+Sunrise+Beach+MO+65079&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=33.02306,78.662109&ie=UTF8&ll=38.202509,-92.7754&spn=0.007993,0.019205&z=16&iwloc=A My mother looked at the map, agrees we are in the right area, but not quite sure Twin Coves Point is the right location. It just didn't look right to her. (?) I asked her about the names Jesse & Pat that I seemed to remember. Jesse Eagan and her late husband Ed were the original owners of Eagan's Twin Coves. When Jesse passed away, she willed the resort to her niece Pat. Pat was in poor health and sold the resort ("a year or two after Grandpa died in 1977." ) This corresponds with the obituary previously posted for the former owner of Eagan' ('79-'90) Max Stephenson. Thanks again! Karl Blust Indiana

The family got a letter telling them about building the dam and his grave needed to be moved. They couldn't afford to come and move him. 3. Hello Morgan Co.! I may have a strange request. I am trying to help my Mother find my Grandfather's final resting place. His body was cremated, and his ashes were taken in a boat and scattered on the Lake in 1977. He vacationed at the same resort in the Ozarks every year for over 30 years. A true fisherman, he died in his boat, found sitting upright, with his fishing pole still in his hand. I am looking for the address of the resort, but not sure exactly where it was located. My mother and sister are planning a trip to the area this Fall, and would like to visit. It was called Eagan's (Egan's) Twin Cove. Located somewhere in the vicinity of Laurie, Sunrise Beach and Rocky Mount. I believe the mailing address of the resort was Laurie, but he was found in Morgan Co. near Rocky Mount. Internet searches have not brought up anything. More than likely it was sold or the name was changed. To my knowledge it had the same name from the mid-late 1940's until at least 1977. For some reason the names Pat & Jesse comes to mind as the owners then, but I could be wrong. ANY help is appreciated! Thank You! Karl Blust Auburn, Indiana [email protected]
