IL about 1830), was uncle of two early teachers. John M. Griffith (first wife Margaret Sutton) re- married after her death, Elizabeth Cummins. They had 5 children, among them twins - Eugenia Eulalia and Eugene Lacount/Marlot (sources vary). Eugenia and her twin brother traveled west from Wayne CY, IL to Spirit Mound, SD. to teach Indians, probably after 1870. They married out there, raised children, and are buried in the area.
