King, I am looking up my materials from VA to see what specific things I have on King and Stroup in Wythe Co. There was more than one King family there at the time. It figures. To help with the John King confusion in Montgomery, I found paragraphs in Pioreer Families of Missouri, by Bryan and Rose, on two different King families there. See the chapter on Montgomery County, page 275, of which I have a bound copy. You may know that a lot of the factual material in this publication wasn't accurate. Still, it is a good jumping off place as long as you check other sources. The first paragraph is the John P.King/ Susan Stephenson line. The second paragraph on KING, lists one ISAAC KING of South Carolina. He married Lydia Sitton and settled in Tennessee. They had the following children: Joshua, Abraham, Sarah, and Joseph. The first three children settled in Lincoln Co., MO in 1817. Joseph settled in Montgomery in 1823. His wife is listed as Elizabeth Yates. They had sons Conrad, Isaac, Charles, and JOHN, a daughter Sarah, and an unnamed child. (The paragraph said six children, but only listed five.) The father Joseph was a Justice of the Peace and a Captain of the Militia, according to the story. He owned a "horse mill" that was run by his wife. Interesting. Any little bit can help open up a line. You never know. I will get back to you both on the Stroup line, but Barbara's parents were Johann Peter Stroup or Straub and Magdalena Wenrich. Sorry, I don't have McKinney or Spires in my line. Linda
