He married Mary A. Rinehart March 29 1818 in Tazewell County. He was the son of James Dillon and Martha Belcher. The area he lived in became Giles County, then Tazewell County, then Mercer County, Virginia. He appears in tax records and censuses through the 1850 census for Mercer County, at which time it appears that he moved to Missouri and he and Mary appear in the 1860 and 1870 censuses for Montgomery County. Samuel and Mary appear to have had at least 14 children. 13 survived to adulthood. 6 (George, Martha (Holstine), Christopher, James, Rhoda (Davidson), and Delila (Collins)) moved to Missouri, one (Samuel W.) died in the Civil War, and 6 (Betsey (McKinney), Nancy (Shrader), Hugh, Chloe (Shrader), Mary (Stump), and Sarah (Shrader)) stayed in what became West Virginia. I would appreciate any further details on Samuel and Mary in Missouri. I do not have their dates of death nor their place of burial. George McKinney (Samuel would have been my ggggrandfather)
